Turn French-language searches
into a reason to choose you.
I help businesses research, improve and measure their French-language websites. From a France-focused service page to a French Canadian product range, I connect the search terms with the offer, technical setup and customer journey.
A WORLD LANGUAGE. DISTINCT BUYING DECISIONS.
French gives you reach.
Relevance earns the enquiry.
Language size is useful context. Your opportunity depends on who needs your offer and where you can deliver it.
Most spoken language

Continents
French speakers are spread across five continents. A single France-only brief will not describe them all.

BEYOND TRANSLATION
The page needs to answer a French-speaking buyer.
A grammatically correct page can still miss the search intent. It might describe your product using unfamiliar terminology, leave delivery unclear or switch to English as soon as someone tries to contact you.
I work through those gaps with your team. The brief starts with the business and audience; French copy and claims then receive the language review the project needs.
My working ruleDo not commission more French pages until each priority page has a clear audience, offer and next action.
FRENCH-SPEAKING AUDIENCES
Same language.
Different reasons to buy.
France
Start with the offer a customer in France can actually buy.
For a France-focused brief, I research the competing pages and terms around your products or services, then check that pricing, fulfilment and contact expectations match the promise.
Discuss My Target MarketSearch language
Review natural French phrasing, modifiers and product vocabulary rather than translating an English keyword list.
Buyer confidence
Make service scope, delivery coverage, returns or appointment details easy to understand.
Measurement
Plan useful conversion reporting around the consent setup and the actions your team can follow up.
French Canada
French-language reach needs Canadian commercial context.
A French page aimed at Quebec may need different product terms and buying information from one aimed at France. I separate language choices from the business decisions behind the page.
Discuss My Target MarketLocal terminology
Have the target-market reviewer check vocabulary and tone, particularly for specialist products.
A consistent journey
Review CAD pricing, delivery, support and French forms wherever they apply to your offer.
Country structure
Connect French and English Canadian equivalents where appropriate, without duplicating pages only to add a location name.
Belgium & Switzerland
One language can cross borders. An offer may not.
I check whether a shared French page is sufficient or regional commercial details justify separate versions. The decision comes from customer needs and your operating model.
Discuss My Target MarketService boundaries
State where you deliver or work rather than implying the same coverage everywhere.
Regional details
Check currency, fulfilment and buying terms with the team responsible for that market.
Page relationships
Use clear navigation and alternate-page signals only where equivalent versions really exist.
African Markets
Choose a country and audience, not an entire continent.
For a brief involving markets such as Senegal, Cote d'Ivoire or Morocco, I start with the actual product, audience and available local evidence. French may be one part of a multilingual journey.
Discuss My Target MarketLanguage mix
Establish which searches and customer interactions use French, and where another language needs attention.
Practical access
Review mobile page usability and the contact or payment routes your customers can use.
Local validation
Use target-market input to check assumptions about terminology, trust and the next customer action.
FRENCH SEO SERVICES
Find the obstacle.
Scope the right work.
I combine research and technical checks with clear implementation priorities. You can bring your existing French content team, developer or agency into the work.
French keyword research
Research terms, modifiers, competing results and buyer questions by market. Map priorities to pages your business can support.
Technical French SEO
Review indexing, hreflang, canonicals, sitemaps and language navigation. Check accented URLs and CMS behaviour as part of the existing setup.
French content optimisation
Brief titles, headings, product or service explanations and supporting evidence. Coordinate terminology and final copy approval with the language reviewer.
Ecommerce & service journeys
Connect category and product discovery with delivery information, product details, forms and checkout or booking expectations.
French-market authority
Assess relevant publications, industry sources and outreach opportunities against the audience and offer. Scope quality-led link work separately where needed.
Reporting & improvement
Review French landing pages, relevant queries and agreed customer actions. Separate country context where it changes what the figures mean.
Start with an audit before commissioning another batch of translations.
FRENCH SEO + AI DISCOVERY
An AI answer still needs to understand your business.
French-language discovery can involve search results and questions asked in AI tools. I review whether your pages explain the offer, service coverage and evidence clearly enough to support an accurate answer.
The work is not adding an AI badge to a translated page. It is making the source information more useful and checking what appears for relevant buyer questions.

YOUR FREELANCE FRENCH SEO CONSULTANT
Work with me on the decisions that move the project forward.
I have worked in search since 2008. You work directly with me on the SEO brief, the evidence and the priorities. I bring French-language review into the delivery plan where needed rather than treating fluency and search strategy as the same skill.
Currently accepting 2 consulting projects.Look at the work behind the advice.
My published case studies explain business starting points, work completed and measured outcomes. Use them to assess how I approach search problems, then we can agree the evidence and goals for your French-language project.

What should we settle before the work starts?
Do I need French SEO or a wider international SEO strategy?
If the priority is making French-language pages perform better, this service is a good starting point. If you are still choosing countries, domains or the order of expansion, I would begin with international SEO strategy. I can connect both scopes without treating every French-speaking country as the same market.
Can you work with our French copywriter or translator?
Yes. I provide the search research, page priorities and SEO briefs, and work with your writer on how the pages answer customer questions. We agree who signs off French accuracy, tone and product claims. Where language review is needed, a qualified French-language reviewer is part of the scope; I do not present myself as your native French copywriter.
Can we use the same French pages for France and Quebec?
Sometimes, but I would check the offer first. Terminology, delivery, currency, support and applicable requirements can differ. If one page genuinely serves both audiences, there is no reason to manufacture duplicate versions. If the commercial details differ, I plan distinct regional pages and the relationships between them.
Should we use a .fr domain or a French subfolder?
I assess your current site, target countries and ability to maintain separate properties. A .fr domain can be appropriate for a France-focused business, while a French subfolder on an established site may suit a wider language audience. Neither is a substitute for useful pages and relevant authority. Domain registration eligibility is checked before a recommendation is finalised.
Will you fix French pages that are not indexing?
Yes. I check crawl access, response codes, canonical targets, internal links and how the CMS publishes the French versions. I also review whether the pages offer enough distinct value. I identify the likely causes and implementation priorities rather than assuming translation alone will fix indexing.
Do you handle fr, fr-FR and fr-CA hreflang?
I review which language and regional relationships your actual pages need, then check their implementation and return references. A generic French version and a France-specific version are not automatically interchangeable. Hreflang is used for equivalent alternatives, not unrelated French service pages or pages that do not exist.
Can AI help with French SEO content?
Yes, for tasks such as organising research, drafting outlines and comparing content coverage. French copy still needs editorial review for meaning, tone, terminology and accuracy. My AI content strategy support helps define that workflow without turning an unchecked draft into a published promise.
Can you help us appear in French AI answers?
I can review how clearly your French pages explain your business, services and evidence, and sample relevant questions in available AI platforms. I check the pages and sources behind observed answers where possible. Citations and recommendations are not guaranteed, and I would not report an isolated mention as a qualified enquiry.
What about cookies, analytics and French privacy requirements?
Measurement needs to fit your consent setup. For France, CNIL guidance generally requires prior consent for non-exempt trackers; some audience-measurement uses can qualify for an exemption under specific conditions. I coordinate SEO measurement with your developer and privacy adviser, rather than promising that an SEO audit certifies legal compliance. Read the CNIL guidance.
Does targeting Quebec create extra French-language obligations?
It can. Your business circumstances and the activities you carry out matter, so I would not treat a translated homepage as a compliance decision. I flag language consistency across the website and customer journey and ask your legal or language-compliance adviser to confirm the applicable obligations. The OQLF explains common business-language questions.
Do you offer French link building and Google Ads support?
Relevant outreach and paid-search support can be scoped alongside SEO. I first check the market, landing pages and review resources. I do not sell indiscriminate French directory submissions or assume an English ad translated word for word is ready to run. See my link building approach and Google Ads consulting.
How much does French SEO cost, and what is included?
The quote depends on the site, target market, page types and implementation responsibility. The options below distinguish an audit, a market launch and ongoing consulting. French copywriting, native review, development and outreach costs are identified in the proposal, so you can see what is included and what requires a separate budget.
How quickly will we see progress?
Technical checks and a prioritised plan can come before search performance changes. The schedule depends on the audit findings, approval speed and implementation capacity. I agree milestones for the work, then report visibility and commercial outcomes against your baseline. I do not promise a first-page position by a fixed date.
Will we work directly with you, and who owns the accounts?
You work directly with me on the SEO priorities and progress reviews. Your business keeps ownership of its website, analytics and search accounts. We agree access, communication and the people responsible for French editorial approval before starting.
